Neil Lennon believes that Bolton Wanderers certainly do not deserve to be at the bottom of the Championship.
The club slipped into this position after failing to get a victory against Leeds United on Saturday. Even though Lennon feels that the team has done enough to get results, fans have already been calling for the former Celtic manager to leave the club. Just one victory so far this season is certainly not justifiable for a club that has huge amounts of debt. Bolton were targeting promotion at the end of the campaign, but their priorities now have shifted towards avoiding relegation once again.
Bolton’s only victory came in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. They look like bringing in the second three points to home when Shola Ameobi scored in the first half. The former Newcastle United striker has been one of the club’s new signings. The goal provided belief to the team, but it was almost instantly robbed away from them when Leeds United converted from the penalty spot. The game finished has a 1-1 draw and the search for the second win of the season continues for Bolton. The team up against Preston North End next week and this will provide some hope of getting on a winning run.
“The quality of performance was excellent, and we don’t look like a side that are bottom of the league, but the reality of it is that we are.We have to start turning the draws into wins, and when we start doing that we’ll move quickly out of trouble, because we’re not playing badly at all. I’m really pleased with David Wheater, he’s playing really consistently, and I’m pleased with Jose Manuel Casado as well, I think he’s been a great find for us,” said Lennon, who came to the club almost a year ago.
