Bolton Wanderers have appointed Andy Townsend as a consultant to the team as they step up their search for a new manager.
The team is currently without a manager after Neil Lennon exit the club on the 15th March.
The new owners have decided to appoint Townsend as an adviser as they seek the best possible candidate for the job. It is reported that there are currently 3 names that has been shortlisted and that they are in the process of choosing the best one. They hope to make their choice as soon as possible so as to give the new manager time to build a squad that will be able to win League one and get the team back up as soon as possible.
Former Bolton player, Kevin Davies has urged the club to choose an appropriate manager if they want to bounce back straightaway in the championship. There are fears that the two partners are not in agreement on which manager to choose, and this can cause further problem down the road.
Kevin Davies stated that there are some optimism around the club with the new owners, but they will need to start working now if they want to rebuild the club. Davies stated that they need to get the right man in the right place and also ensure that money is available to get the club back on track. The former Bolton player said that many teams have struggled to bounce back immediately and that he does not want Bolton to fall further down.
Bolton Wanderers enjoyed a mediocre season in the Championship and was on the brink of liquidation after several issues concerning unpaid tax bill. Despite having found new owners as well as financing, they could not prevent Bolton from being relegated.
